Looking for a fun way to take spaghetti night beyond the usual bowl of pasta? This Ultimate Spaghetti-Stuffed Garlic Bread combines two comfort-food favorites into one seriously delicious meal: saucy spaghetti and warm, cheesy garlic bread!
I was excited to be one of 30 bloggers chosen to create a recipe for the Don Pepino Recipe Challenge, and this recipe was created for the “Beyond the Slice” category—challenging us to use Don Pepino Pizza Sauce for something outside of the traditional pizza night. Challenge accepted!
For this recipe, Don Pepino Pizza Sauce becomes the spaghetti sauce, making the filling incredibly easy to prepare. Simply cook your spaghetti and toss it with the sauce. Don Pepino is fully prepared and ready to use straight from the can, so there’s no need to spend extra time making a separate pasta sauce.
The spaghetti is piled down the center of a thawed and rolled-out loaf of frozen bread dough, then topped with plenty of mozzarella and Parmesan cheese. Fold the dough around all that cheesy spaghetti goodness, brush the top with a buttery garlic mixture, add another sprinkle of Parmesan, and bake until the bread is beautifully golden brown.
Slice it open and you get layers of warm garlic bread wrapped around saucy spaghetti and melted cheese. It’s hearty, cheesy, a little unexpected, and such a fun twist on a traditional spaghetti dinner.
And somehow, it may be even better the next day! The leftovers reheat beautifully, making this one recipe I definitely didn’t mind finding in the refrigerator the following afternoon.
If you’re ready to take pizza sauce Beyond the Slice, this Ultimate Spaghetti-Stuffed Garlic Bread is one delicious way to do it. Garlic bread + spaghetti + lots of cheese? Yes, please!
- Frozen Bread Dough - thawed and doubled in size
- 8 oz. Spaghetti Noodles Cooked
- 1 (14.5 oz) can Don Pepino Pizza Sauce
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup Parmesan
- ½ stick butter melted
- 1 tsp chopped garlic
- ½ tsp dried parsley
- ¼ tsp salt
- After bread dough has unthawed and rised. Roll out bread down into a rectangle.
- Mix cooked spaghetti and can of Don Pepino Pizza Sauce.
- Place cooked spaghetti down the center of the bread dough.
- Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, cut 1-inch-wide strips along both long sides of the dough, stopping before you reach the spaghetti filling in the center. Leave the center section intact to hold the filling.
- Top with Mozzarella cheese and ½ of the Parmesan.
- Starting at one end, alternate folding the dough strips over the spaghetti filling, slightly overlapping them to create a braided or crisscross pattern. Pinch the ends closed to seal.
- In a small bowl, combine melted butter, dried parsley, salt, and garlic. Then with pastry brush, brush butter mixture over the top of the bread including the sides.
- Place on baking sheet and bake at 350 degrees for 30-40 minutes until golden brown.
