Dirty Dozen!

Jan. 7, 2014

Dirty Dozen - www.SweetDashofSass.com

If you are like me and cannot afford to buy fully organic produce, here is a great tip sheet showing which fruits/veggies have the highest in pesticides.  Dirty Dozen / Clean 15 — Also, I highly recommend buying Organic Milk.  Not only is it healthier, but it also lasts longer than the regular stuff.

Definitely shop around when it comes to buying organic produce.  I guess that is one of the biggest perks about living in California.  There are so many different avenues for getting organic produce and at a good price (sometimes the same price as the regular stuff)!!

I visit our local Farmers Market often and I also get a Fruit/Veggie delivery from ‘Farm Fresh to You’ every 3-4 weeks.  I love supporting the local farmers.

What’s great about the ‘Farm Fresh to You’ delivery is that it’s a surprise what I’ll be receiving each time.  Typically you get items that are in season — but the best part?  Each time I have gotten at least one new item that I have never tried or cooked with before.  It almost makes me feel like I am on the show Chopped or Iron Chef.  It makes you get out of your comfort zone and to try new recipe creations.   Some of these items have been Fennel, Leek, and Kiwi Berries.
