Looking for a fun, food – related item to take to your next Halloween party! Witches hats and broomsticks will sure be the hit of your next party. I have taken these to two different Halloween parties and got so many rave reviews. The best part is…. one of them is a No Bake recipe!!
- 32 Hershey’s Kisses milk chocolates, unwrapped
- 1 package (11½ oz) fudge-striped shortbread cookies (32)
- 1 tube of orange decorating frosting
- Attach 1 Hershey Kiss to the chocolate bottom of each cookie using the decorating icing as if it were “glue”.
- Pipe decorating icing around base of Hershey’s Kiss to make the bow on hat.
- Let air dry at least 1 -2 hours till icing hardens.
How easy is that?!?
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup butter, softened
2 tablespoons milk
2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
10 pretzel rods, cut in half (each half roughly 5 inches long)
After Baking Ingredients
2 teaspoons butter
2/3 cup milk chocolate chips
Butterscotch-flavored chips, melted -or- white chocolate chips, melted
Heat oven to 350ºF. Combine brown sugar, butter, water and vanilla in medium bowl. Stir in flour and salt. Roll dough into twenty 1 1/4-inch balls.
Place pretzel rod halves on an ungreased cookie sheet. Press ball of dough onto cut end of each pretzel rod. Press dough with fork to resemble “bristles” of a broom.
Bake 12 minutes or until set (do not brown). Remove from cookie sheet. Cool completely on wire rack, about 30 minutes.
Cover cookie sheet with waxed paper and place brooms on paper. Heat butter and chocolate chips over low heat, stirring occasionally, until melted and smooth. Remove from heat.
Spoon melted chocolate over the top part of broom / where the pretzel meets the cookie. This will help secure the cookie to the pretzel rod.
Note: Do not put chocolate on the bottom part of the cookie where the “bristles” are.
Drizzle the milk chocolate portion with melted butterscotch or white chocolate chips. Let stand until chocolate is set.
