Who still has a bucket of Halloween candy laying around waiting to be eaten? We do.
It’s so tempting to just sit and splurge on all of it! I actually have been really good to not fall into the temptation. At the same time, I didn’t want to throw it all away to just take it to work. Everyone else was already bringing in their bags of candy to share with the office.
I decided to try a new spin on a cookie recipe. What if I chop up various candies and put them in my base chocolate chip cookie recipe and bake?!?
You need about 2 cups of chopped chocolates for the recipe. I used M&M’s, Hershey’s Kisses, KitKat, Reese’s Cups, Twix, Snickers, Hershey’s Milk Chocolate, and Reese’s Outrageous Bars.
Some of my favorite Halloween candies to enjoy are: KitKat, Twizzlers, Hershey’s Milk Chocolate, PayDay, and Nerds! What are some of your favorites?
- 2 cups flour
- 2 tsp. cornstarch
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- ½ tsp kosher salt
- ¾ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup brown sugar
- ¾ cup sugar
- 1 large egg
- 2 tsp. vanilla
- 1½ - 2 cups of various chocolate candies, chopped
- Pre-Heat oven to 350 degrees.
- In a large bowl, whisk cornstarch, baking soda, and salt together. Set aside.
- In another large bowl, (or stand up mixer) cream together butter and sugars until smooth and creamy, about 3 minutes.
- Add egg and vanilla, beat until combined. Slowly mix in dry ingredients.
- Stir in 1½ cups of various chopped candies.
- Using medium cookie scoop, place cookie balls (tablespoon size) onto baking sheet lined with parchment paper, about 2 inches apart.
- You can top cookie balls with additional candy pieces and/or see various tip later on.
- Chill dough in refrigerator until you are ready to bake to keep dough chilled.
- Bake cookies 9-10 minutes, or until slightly golden brown around edges.
- When cookies immediately come out, you can also add additional chocolates on top. This is when I do the Reese's, Hershey's Milk Chocolate bar pieces, or even Hershey Kisses.
- Let sit on baking sheet for 4-5 minutes.
- Transfer to wire rack for cooling and cool completely.
- ENJOY!
Tip: You can easily freeze cookie dough balls and bake portions at a time. Once you create all your cookie balls, place them in a single layer on baking sheet and freeze for at least 30 minutes. Then, transfer the cookie dough balls to a freezer-safe bag to store in freezer for up to 3 months. When you are ready to bake the cookies, remove the number of cookie dough balls you want and place them a few inches apart on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Bake at 350°F for about 12-14 minutes or until they start to brown and crisp around the edges.
