I can’t believe we are already approaching the end of the year! Where has the time gone?
Have you noticed that Thanksgiving is a little later than usual this year?
Thanksgiving has always been celebrated on the last Thursday of the month since the time of Abraham Lincoln. During 1939, November started on a Wednesday, so there were five Thursdays as opposed to four. Roosevelt then moved the National Holiday to the second-to-last Thursday of the month (which many were unhappy with). Instead of focusing on the negative, he attempted to justify his decision with a pro-shopping response: merchants would have an extra week of shopping time to Christmas – which started the “Black Friday” craze. In 1941, he made the change permanent, as he signed a bill making Thanksgiving fall on the fourth Thursday of November, regardless of if it is the last Thursday of the month or not.
This year, the month began on a Friday, which means the fourth Thursday of the month falls on November 28th – it’s the first time Thanksgiving has been this late since 2013.
This is a sponsored post for Florida Crystals, but all opinions are 100% my own.
This particular recipe I used Florida Crystals® Organic Brown Raw Cane Sugar& Florida Crystals® Organic Raw Cane Sugar.
The brown raw cane sugar is a rich, free flowing sugar with bold flavors of molasses & caramel. With its higher moisture content, it’s ideal for baking as it will keep your recipes soft and tender, which is perfect for cookies, brownies, and cakes.
The raw cane sugar is very versatile, making it an excellent equal replacement for white granulated sugar. It’s fine golden crystals have a delicious hint of molasses perfect for all baking.

I am a huge fan of Pineapple Upside Down Cake, so I figured why not make a version with apples!
You can make and assemble in a cast iron skillet. Which means less pans or bowls to clean!
ENJOY!!
- Apples Portion:
- 3 TBSP butter
- ¾ cup brown sugar, lightly packed, I used Florida Crystals® Organic Brown Raw Cane Sugar
